Wade in The Water -The Story of Black Lives on The Anacostia River.

Canoeing in the park

July

Rivers sustain life and like all life, rivers have a story…….

The story of the Anacostia River is deeply entwined with all life in the area we now call DC. The creation of the city named District of Columbia came with the introduction of a population of Africans whose lives and that of the River began, over time, to reflect one another. Any serious student of African history in DC will come across the story of the Anacostia River.

Please join us as we unfold this remarkable story.

What better way to learn this story than by getting to know the river personally.
