African Centered Science

This series of AfriClasses™ explores ancient African ideas and philosophies that are the basis of the science that we know today. We will first examine the ancient African understanding of matter and energy, then focus in on electricity and how it works and finally we will use all we learned to create a fun, hands-on projects. Materials will be provided via mail. This is a live in person class that consists of 10 weekly 1.5 hour sessions. Best for Ages 8 to 14.

African Centered Science 1: Introduction to Electricity

Mondays : 11am – 12:30pm EST – Oct 4 – Dec 13, 2021 (10 weeks) – IN SESSION –

African History, Heritage & Me 1 is the first of a series of holistic, African-centered experiences that begins by exploring the holistic worldview of the ancient people of Kemet (Egypt) and their understanding of the universe. We then dig into understanding the basics of electricity in the way we use it today to power our world. We create fun African centered projects.

African Centered Science 2: Circuit Bonanza

Tuesdays : 11am – 12:30pm EST – Oct 5 – Dec 14, 2021 (10 weeks) – IN SESSION –

African Centered Science 2 is a Circuit Bonanza! This is a very hands-on class where we will build all kinds of circuits from different materials. We will learn how to make build series and parallel circuits. We will then discover how electricity comes to our homes and finish with a fun hands-on project. Materials will be provided via mail. This is a live in person class that consists of 10 weekly 1.5 hour sessions. Best for Ages 8 to 14.

African Centered Science 3: How Electricity comes to our homes

Wednesdays : 11am – 12:30pm EST – Oct 6 – Dec 15, 2021 (10 weeks) – IN SESSION –

In African Centered Science 3 we will explore how electricity is produced and how it gets to our homes. This will give students an opportunity to understand some of the larger issues that are involved in power production. Materials will be provided via mail. This is a live in person class that consists of 10 weekly 1.5 hour sessions. Best for Ages 8 to 14.
